Microtox uses micro-doses of prescription-only muscle-relaxing medicine delivered superficially into the skin — reducing pore size, improving glow and refining skin texture without affecting facial movement. Provided by Clare Hird, independent nurse prescriber, with mobile appointments across Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds.
£325 per session
Microtox uses the same prescription-only medicine as wrinkle reducing injections — but in micro-doses, delivered into the very superficial layers of the skin rather than into the muscles. This creates a completely different effect to traditional muscle-relaxing treatment.
At this superficial level, the medicine acts on the sebaceous (oil) glands and the tiny muscles attached to individual hair follicles (arrector pili muscles), reducing oil production, minimising pore size and smoothing the skin surface. The result is a refined, matte-but-luminous complexion with noticeably improved texture.
Microtox does not freeze or affect facial movement — it purely improves skin quality at the surface level.
Microtox suits those with enlarged pores, oily skin or poor skin texture who want a non-ablative treatment to refine and improve skin quality.
Clare uses a systematic microinjection technique to deliver the product evenly across the treatment area — typically the cheeks, nose and forehead. The injections are placed superficially using a very fine needle. A topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand. Results develop over 7–14 days and last approximately 3–4 months. Clare often combines Microtox with skin boosters for a comprehensive skin quality improvement.
Microtox has a good safety profile when administered correctly. As the product is delivered superficially rather than into muscles, muscle-related side effects are unlikely.
Avoid touching, washing or applying make-up to the treated area for 4 hours. Avoid exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 hours. Do not use retinol or active skincare for 24 hours after treatment. Results improve over 7–14 days.
No. Because the product is delivered superficially rather than into the muscles, it does not affect facial movement or expressions. Your face will move completely normally.
Typically 3–4 months, similar to standard wrinkle reducing treatment.
'Baby Botox' usually refers to reduced doses of muscle-relaxing treatment for a softer anti-wrinkle effect. Microtox is different — it is specifically targeting skin quality, pores and texture rather than muscle relaxation.
Yes, absolutely — many of Clare's clients combine both. Clare will plan the timing of treatments appropriately.
Many clients are very happy with a single session, maintained every 3–4 months. Clare will recommend the right programme for your skin at consultation.
Microtox is £250 for the face, or £300 for face and neck. Full pricing is on the pricing page.
