Medical-grade microneedling creates thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body's natural wound-healing response to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Provided by Clare Hird, nurse prescriber, with mobile appointments across Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds.
Course of 3 with Juvelook or NCTF £650
Microneedling — also known as collagen induction therapy — uses a medical-grade device with fine needles to create thousands of precise micro-channels in the skin. This controlled 'injury' triggers the skin's natural healing response, producing new collagen and elastin and accelerating cell turnover.
Clare combines microneedling with active skin treatments applied immediately after needling, so they penetrate deeply through the micro-channels for significantly enhanced results. She uses either NCTF (a revitalising cocktail of hyaluronic acid, vitamins and amino acids) or Juvelook (an Advanced Hybrid Dermal Biostimulator combining non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid with PDLLA microspheres for deep hydration and long-term collagen regeneration). This combination is substantially more effective than either treatment alone.
Microneedling suits a wide range of skin types and concerns, though some conditions (such as active acne) require a specific approach.
Clare uses professional-grade microneedling equipment and adjusts the needle depth to the area and skin concern being treated. After needling, NCTF or Juvelook (an Advanced Hybrid Dermal Biostimulator — not a polynucleotide) is applied and massaged into the skin. A course of 3 treatments, 4–6 weeks apart, is recommended. The skin requires careful preparation in the days before treatment — Clare provides a full pre-treatment protocol.
Microneedling is generally very safe, but some conditions or medications make it unsuitable — Clare screens carefully at consultation.
Avoid active skincare (retinol, acids, vitamin C) for 5–7 days. Use only gentle, hydrating products. Apply SPF daily — the skin is more vulnerable to UV damage after needling. Avoid gym, swimming and heat for 48 hours. Do not pick or peel flaking skin.
Clare recommends a minimum course of 3 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart. Results build cumulatively — the improvement after 3 sessions is substantially greater than after one.
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 30–45 minutes before treatment. Most people describe the sensation as mild to moderate during the procedure — manageable and brief.
The skin may look worse before it looks better — some redness, peeling and purging is normal in the first 2 weeks. Real improvement begins to show at 4–6 weeks as new collagen is produced.
Not if there is widespread active or inflamed acne. Clare will assess your skin at consultation and may recommend preparing the skin first before commencing microneedling.
Yes — these areas respond very well to microneedling, particularly for crepey skin and texture concerns.
