What is LED Light Therapy?

LED (Light Emitting Diode) light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin at different depths and trigger natural biological processes within the cells. It is completely non-invasive — there are no needles, no heat, and no downtime.

Different wavelengths produce different effects. Red and near-infrared light are absorbed by mitochondria — the energy centres of the skin cell — stimulating them to produce more energy (ATP). This accelerates cellular repair, supports collagen and elastin production, reduces inflammation, and improves circulation. The result is brighter, healthier, more resilient skin over time.

Clare uses the Visage Curve Pro 2 — a professional-grade device designed to deliver precise, consistent wavelengths at clinically effective parameters. This is a very different experience to home LED devices, which typically operate at a fraction of the power and cannot achieve the same depth of tissue penetration.

LED therapy is widely used as a standalone skin treatment and as an add-on following in-clinic procedures to enhance and prolong results. It is suitable for the face, neck, and body.

How the wavelengths work

Red Light ~630–660nm

Stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. Improves skin texture, reduces fine lines, and supports overall skin health and radiance.

Near-Infrared ~830nm

Penetrates deeper into the tissue to reduce inflammation, accelerate cellular repair, and support recovery after in-clinic treatments.

Who is it suitable for?

LED light therapy is exceptionally well tolerated and suitable for virtually all skin types and tones. There are no restrictions on skin type, and there is no recovery period required.

Anyone wanting to improve overall skin quality
Skin that looks dull, tired or lacks radiance
Post-treatment recovery support
Bridal skin preparation programmes
Inflammatory skin conditions (rosacea, redness)
Those wanting a no-needle alternative or complement

Concerns it addresses

How Clare approaches it

LED therapy sessions are relaxing and require no preparation beyond arriving with clean skin. The device is positioned comfortably over the treatment area — face, face and neck, or body — and you simply rest while the light works. Sessions typically take 20–30 minutes. There is no heat, no discomfort, and nothing to recover from. Clare often recommends LED as an add-on following injectable or microneedling treatments to support tissue recovery and enhance results. For standalone skin improvement, a course of six sessions is recommended to achieve the best cumulative effect.

Frequently asked questions

Not at all. LED therapy is completely comfortable — most clients find it relaxing. There is no heat, no tingling, and no sensation beyond a gentle warmth in some cases.

For standalone skin improvement, a course of six sessions gives the best results — usually spaced one to two weeks apart. As an add-on following other treatments, a single session is often all that is needed to support recovery and enhance your results.

None at all. You can return to normal activities immediately. This makes it particularly useful as an add-on treatment — it will not add to any downtime from your other procedure.

Yes — LED is an excellent complement to injectables, skin boosters, and microneedling. It helps reduce inflammation and supports tissue recovery, which can enhance and prolong the results of your in-clinic treatment. Clare will advise on the best timing during your consultation.

Yes. LED light therapy is suitable for all skin types and tones. Unlike some energy-based treatments, it does not carry a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, making it safe for darker skin tones.

Yes. LED body treatments are available and can address skin concerns on areas such as the décolletage, arms, or abdomen. Body sessions are priced at £95.

LED face treatment is £75; face and neck is £85; body is £95. As a treatment add-on, LED is £40. A course of 6 face sessions is £375 (saving £75). Full pricing is on the pricing page.
